Description

Garnet red in colour with orange reflections. The nose reveals a classic Barolo, fresh and elegant in its notes of leather, hay, dried earth, and baking spice. On the palate it is round, well balanced between acidity and tannin, with a very persistent finish. Classic Barolo in in structure and fruit profile.

Barolo Serralunga works superbly with feathered game such as partridge, pheasant and also roast goose. Milder cheeses such as grana Padano and sheep cheeses would also work well.

In the name of Barolo. The PIRA family has been tied to the hills of Serralunga D'Alba, a land of great wines, since the late 19th century. It is a precious gift of the earth that the Pira family was able to cultivate, in the name of quality. They only produce red wines: Barolo, the King, is flanked by Dolcetto d'Alba, Langhe Nebbiolo and Barbera d'Alba.

The largest part of the vineyards is located in the territory of Serralunga d'Alba, on the western side of the hills opposite the village of Monforte d'Alba. These hills produce great, full-bodied wines thanks to their special features, which enable a natural development of the vine, in the very heart of the Barolo district.
The special attention paid to the care of the vineyards allows them to find the right balance between tradition and modernity, obtaining a product that is the best expression of its area. There is quality in every single stage.

The wine-making process of Barolo Serralunga takes place in horizontal fermentation tanks with temperature control for 12-15 days. The wine ages in large 25-hl wooden barrels for 24 months.

Pira Luigi

In the 1950s, Luigi Pira, and his wife Rosa, transformed the estate in Serralunga d'Alba into a wine-growing business. Their wines are the result of a journey through generations - from Luigi's grandparents to his granddaughters - a journey of traditions and devotion, of growth and an eye to the future. Today the family takes care of all the tasks: from taking care of the vineyards, through the vinification, all the way to tastings in the cellar.

Piedmont

Piedmont or Piemonte, located in northwestern Italy, is renowned for its prestigious and diverse wines. The region's varied climate and rich soils, particularly in the Langhe and Monferrato areas, are ideal for viticulture. It is famous for its robust reds, especially Barolo and Barbaresco, both made from the Nebbiolo grape, known for their complex aromas, rich tannins, and ageing potential. It also excels in Barbera, producing wines with vibrant acidity and cherry notes, and Dolcetto, offering fruit-forward, approachable reds. On the white side, Gavi, made from the Cortese grape, is known for its crisp, refreshing character. Piemonte’s blend of traditional winemaking techniques and modern innovations offers a rich and sophisticated wine experience.
