Tasting note

A bright, mineral Douro white from one of the region’s smallest family estates. Pale lemon-gold in the glass, it opens with ripe white peach, pear and yellow plum, lifted by citrus peel and a hint of wild herbs. The palate is fresh and gently textured, with the fruit carried by lively, mouthwatering acidity through to a clean, stony finish. A white made for the table as much as for sipping.

Quinta do Javali sits on the left bank of the Douro at Nagoselo do Douro, in São João da Pesqueira, where the vines push their roots deep into the region’s schist. The family farms around ten hectares of vineyard and is best known for its Ports, but the cooler, north-facing site also gives whites with real freshness and poise.
