Description

Ramos Pinto has a rare advantage in the Douro Valley: it owns 90% of its vineyards, giving it high control over its grapes. This wine has a dark garnet colour with cherry highlights. It has a mature nose with plum and black cherry and hints of spices and wood. On the palate, it is soft and smooth with ripe fruit flavours. It has a graceful and elegant finish. This wine pairs well with Mediterranean dishes, poultry recipes, grilled red meat and cured sheep’s milk cheeses.

Ramos Pinto

The founder, Adriano Ramos Pinto, was an artist which had a marked influence on the graphic material used to publicise the winery. As the business expanded he was joined by his brother Antonio. Today it is Jorge Rosas at the helm. At Ramos Pinto there is a dedication to the studying of wine making by constant research on soil and weather conditions and the latest innovation technology. The result is more than the wine itself: it’s a complete experience.

Douro Valley

The Douro Valley, located in northern Portugal, is a historic and renowned wine region known for its exceptional Port and table wines. Recognised as one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world, it was officially regulated in 1756. The valley's dramatic landscape, characterised by steep terraced vineyards along the Douro River, creates a unique terroir that is ideal for viticulture.
The area is particularly famous for its Port wines, which range from rich and robust Vintage Ports to smooth and sweet Tawny Ports, crafted from indigenous grapes like Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz. It also produces high-quality red and white table wines, with rich, full-bodied reds and aromatic whites from local varieties such as Touriga Franca and Viosinho. The combination of historical winemaking traditions and modern practices makes the Douro Valley a compelling and storied wine region.
