Description

A Rhône-style blend of 85% Grenache Blanc, 12% Picpoul and 3% Roussanne, from three vineyards on the west side of Paso Robles: Fossil Creek, Adelaida and Halter Ranch. The nose opens with honeysuckle and citrus blossom, with a flinty, mineral edge beneath. The grapes were whole cluster pressed, then aged for eight months in five year old barrels, so the oak adds texture rather than flavour.

On the palate, subtle pear and apricot fruit meets mineral notes and bright, refreshing acidity. The Picpoul keeps things taut and lively, while the barrel time gives a rounded, gently textured middle. It was bottled early to preserve freshness, and it is generous without ever feeling heavy, at 13.5% ABV. Drinking well now, it should reward a few years in bottle. Serve well chilled with roast chicken, grilled fish, shellfish or creamy sauces.
