Pale, brilliant ruby in the glass, this is a wine that wears its lightness as a badge of honour. From the Lennon Vineyard on Kaurna Country in McLaren Vale, and made with fruit courtesy of Brad Hickey, this Cinsaut is blended with a small parcel of old vine Grenache that adds a quiet depth to the blend without disturbing its essential freshness. The nose is bright and lifted, offering red cherry, alpine herb and a beguiling cola spice that speaks to the 50% whole bunch fermentation, giving the wine an aromatic complexity that belies its easygoing nature. On the palate, the wine is delightfully lightweight and vibrant, with a mouthful of fresh red berries and supple, silty tannins that glide across the palate without resistance. Raised in stainless steel, the fruit is unencumbered and expressive, and the finish is clean, juicy and genuinely thirst-slaking. This is warm-weather red drinking at its most honest and its most fun.
