Pale lemon in the glass, with a nose of lemon zest, white peach and green apple, lifted by wild herbs, sea spray and a hint of crushed stone. The palate is bone dry and crisp, with a taut line of citrus acidity and a saline, mineral thread that carries through to a long, clean finish. It has more texture and presence than most coastal Vermentino, yet it stays fresh and precise rather than heavy. This is a Vermentino grown at altitude, close to the cooling pine forests of Bolgheri, and it shows an elegance that sets it apart from the region’s reds. Lovely with grilled prawns, fritto misto or a simple plate of linguine alle vongole.
