A deep, intense ruby in the glass, this 100% Cabernet Franc from a single prized plot within the Bolgheri amphitheatre is a wine of real precision and character. The nose is immediately varietal and expressive, with blackcurrant, dried herbs, grilled pepper and a lifted freshness of mint and myrtle leaf, underpinned by fine notes of mocha and dark chocolate. 2019 was one of the finest recent vintages for Cabernet Franc at the estate, with a cool spring giving way to a warm, dry summer that produced loose, light bunches and exceptional tannin quality, and it shows: the palate is full-bodied yet remarkably velvety, layered with candied dark fruit and pencil shavings, with stony minerality running through the core. Bright acidity keeps everything taut and vital, and the finish is long, pure and persistent. Superb now with a good decant, and built to age comfortably for another decade or more.
