A standout in Valdespino’s range of unfortified Albariza wines, Viña Macharnudo Alto Barrel Fermented is made from Palomino grapes grown at the highest point of the historic Macharnudo Alto vineyard. Hand-picked at night, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented in old sherry barrels, then aged on lees for six months with two further months in cask. The 2023 vintage is bright and expressive, offering aromas of lime, chalk, mint and toasted almond. The palate shows vibrant acidity, citrus and green apple, evolving into richer notes of pear, herbal nuances and subtle oak. Dry, textured and deeply characterful.
