Rioja Month

October is Rioja Month, and there's far more to the region than the ageing terms on the label. Rioja Alta gives us the great historic houses and long-aged Gran Reservas. Rioja Alavesa, on the chalky slopes north of the Ebro, is home to biodynamic growers making wines village by village. In the warmer east, Rioja Oriental shows what Garnacha can do. Add some brilliant white Rioja from rare native grapes, and you have a region that rewards exploring. Here are our favourite producers from every corner.
