Description

This Spätlese comes from the Grosse Lage Hermannshöhle, the highest rated site in the Nahe region, where vines up to 75 years old grow on a steep, south facing slope of black grey slate, volcanic rock, porphyry and limestone. Immensely rich in fruit aromas yet elegant and light on its feet, it shows slate on the nose alongside fresh and dried flowers, with a racy, terroir driven palate and a long, fine, ethereal finish. Refined, aristocratic and complex, it has the potential to age for decades. Following a selective hand harvest, the fruit was gently pressed and the must matured in small stainless steel tanks and neutral oak barrels, with bottling the year after harvest under natural cork for long term cellaring.
