Tasting note

A traditionally made, barrel-fermented Chardonnay, the Rustenberg Stellenbosch Chardonnay is a combination of complexing factors from the vineyard, wild yeast and careful barrel age, aiming for balance and expression in each vintage. This is a beautifully balanced, richly flavoured Chardonnay with excellent oak integration, enhanced by mineral undertones. Apricot and orange peel aromas are followed by a palate with flavours of almond and marzipan melded with citrus and stone fruit.

In 1941 Peter and Pamela Barlow bought Rustenberg. Their son Simon took over the running of the farm in 1987. Simon’s son, Murray, joined in the running of the farm with his father in 2012. The Barlows have been at Rustenberg for over 75 years. With a long and very proud history of producing exceptional wines, Rustenberg’s winemaking style is simple: Produce quality wines true to the style of the Estate and the brand.

Stellenbosch, located in South Africa’s Western Cape, is one of the country’s most renowned wine regions, celebrated for its premium wines and prestigious vineyards. It benefits from a Mediterranean climate, with warm days and cool nights, perfect for cultivating high-quality grapes.
The area is particularly known for its robust reds, including Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which exhibit deep fruit flavours and complex, well-structured profiles. The whites, such as Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, are noted for their crisp acidity and vibrant fruit character.
Historically, Stellenbosch is significant as it was one of the first areas settled by Dutch colonists in the late 17th century. The wine industry in Stellenbosch began to develop in the 19th century, and today, it remains a cornerstone of South Africa’s wine heritage, blending traditional techniques with modern innovation to produce exceptional wines.

Delivery is free on orders over £120. Otherwise, standard delivery is £6.95 and usually arrives within 48 hours, excluding weekends. You can request a delivery date during checkout using the notes section.
