Tasting note

Pure, almost raw Syrah. Blackberry and dark cherry with violets, black olive and white pepper, then powdery tannins and a delicate, lifted finish closer to Cornas than the Cape. The fruit comes from dry-farmed bush vines planted in 1999 on well-drained decomposed granite, four kilometres from False Bay. Ninety per cent is fermented whole bunch with a submerged cap and occasional gentle pump-overs, then aged eleven months in large concrete and old 400 litre French oak. Suitable for vegans.

The area is particularly known for its robust reds, including Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which exhibit deep fruit flavours and complex, well-structured profiles. The whites, such as Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, are noted for their crisp acidity and vibrant fruit character.
Historically, Stellenbosch is significant as it was one of the first areas settled by Dutch colonists in the late 17th century. The wine industry in Stellenbosch began to develop in the 19th century, and today, it remains a cornerstone of South Africa’s wine heritage, blending traditional techniques with modern innovation to produce exceptional wines.
